As a way of recognizing and symbolizing this commitment to excellence, our baristas are trained to finish every cup of latte with a distinctive swirl of the steamed milk that’s finally added to the espresso. This design, which takes great practice and art to perfect, is called the rosetta, and it is the mark by which all accomplished baristas become known.

Thought to have been discovered in the northeast region of Ethiopia, the earliest evidence of coffee drinking appears in the middle of the 15th century, in the Sufi monasteries of Yemen in southern Arabia. From the Muslim world, coffee spread to Italy, then to the rest of Europe, to Indonesia, and ultimately to the Americas — where it has since become the world’s most popular beverage. In western cultures tea is a traditional afternoon beverage served at social events, from high teas to tea parties. Prevalent in most cultures in the Middle East — and Arab culture in general — tea is also a focal point for social gatherings. And in China and Japan there are wonderfully involved tea ceremonies that blend drama with art and formality. The tea we serve at VINT is a testament to tea’s global status and rich social heritage, so we only use hand-picked leaves that are then master-blended.
